Leaving MyHeritage?
Bring your whole family with you.
If you're here, the story probably rhymes with ours: a renewal email triple the price you signed up at, a tree locked read-only the moment you hesitated, your grandmother's photos held behind a paywall. We built Dynasty House because families deserve better than a hostage negotiation.
The honest comparison
| Dynasty House | MyHeritage | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $4/mo or $40/yr, flat forever | $149–$399/yr, triples at renewal |
| Tree if you stop paying | Fully editable, forever | Locked read-only over 250 people |
| GEDCOM export | Free, complete, one click | Buried in settings |
| Duplicate finder | Free | Paid ("PRO") feature |
| Family page on the web | yourname.dynasty.house, living people auto-hidden | — |
| DNA kits, record subscriptions, upsell banners | None. Your tree. Nothing else. | On every screen |
To be fair: MyHeritage's historical record archive and DNA matching are genuinely good — if you need those, keep a subscription there. If you need a beautiful, permanent, honest home for the tree itself, that's us.
Move in three steps
- 1 · Export from MyHeritage. Family tree → Manage trees → Export to GEDCOM. You'll get a
.gedfile — that's your whole tree: people, dates, places, marriages, notes. - 2 · Import here. Create a free account and drop the file on the import box. A 2,000-person tree lands in about five seconds.
- 3 · Check your house. Everything arrives connected. Run the free duplicate check, add photos, publish your family's page if you like.
Common questions
Will my photos come across? GEDCOM files from MyHeritage don't include photo files, only the tree data. Download your photos from MyHeritage before your subscription lapses, then attach them here — uploads are included.
What if I have more than 100 people? The free plan holds 100. The Dynasty plan ($4/mo) is unlimited — and unlike the big sites, the price you join at is the price you keep.
What if Dynasty House shuts down someday? Your one-click GEDCOM export means you're never trapped — that's the whole point. We're built on boring, cheap infrastructure precisely so we can stay around.
Your family is not a renewal fee.
