Their story

Isabeau of Bavaria, born in Munich in 1370, was a member of the powerful House of Wittelsbach. As Duchess consort of Bavaria, her early life was shaped by European dynastic politics. In 1385, she married Charles VI of France, becoming Queen. Her reign spanned a turbulent period in French history, marked by her husband's recurring illness and the Hundred Years' War. She skillfully navigated the complexities of court life and regency, often acting in the best interests of her children and the French crown during times of great upheaval. Isabeau died in Paris in 1435.
