Their story
Henry, son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, was born at Bermondsey Abbey on March 7, 1155. Though never a reigning monarch, he held the title of "the Young King" after his coronation in 1170, a strategic move by his father to secure the succession. He also served as Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. Despite his royal status, Henry’s life was marked by a complex relationship with his father, leading to several rebellions. His early death in Martel on June 18, 1183, at the age of twenty-eight, ended a life of considerable promise and left a lasting void in the Plantagenet dynasty.
