Their story

Marie de' Medici, born in Florence on April 26, 1575, was a distinguished member of the House of Medici. Her life, deeply intertwined with European royalty, saw her ascend to the French throne as Queen Consort. Following the assassination of her husband, King Henry IV, she served as regent for their young son, Louis XIII, demonstrating a firm hand in the complexities of statecraft during a period of considerable political and religious upheaval. Though her later years were marked by exile and challenges to her influence, her early reign established a strong foundation. Marie de' Medici, who held the title of Governor of Siena, passed away in Cologne on July 3, 1642.
