Their story

Infanta Maria Josefa of Spain, a member of the House of Bourbon, was born in Gaeta on July 6, 1744. As a Spanish Infanta, she held a position of considerable prestige within European royalty. Although she bore titles such as Monarch of Lower Navarre, King of France, French Co-Prince of Andorra, and Count of Foix, these were titular, reflecting the historical claims of the Spanish Crown rather than direct rule. She resided primarily in Spain throughout her life, a figure of the Bourbon court during a period of significant political and social change in Europe. Infanta Maria Josefa passed away in Madrid on December 8, 1801.
