Their story

Leo X, born Giovanni di Lorenzo de' Medici in Florence on December 11, 1475, was a prominent figure of the Renaissance. A scion of the influential House of Medici, his early life was immersed in cultural and political prominence. He rose through the ecclesiastical ranks, eventually becoming Pope. His pontificate was marked by significant patronage of the arts, particularly during the high Renaissance, and he oversaw the continued construction of St. Peter's Basilica. He also held the title of Governor of Siena. Leo X died in Rome on December 1, 1521, leaving a lasting legacy on both the Church and the artistic landscape of Europe.
