Alexander Stewart, born in 1214, was the 4th High Steward of Scotland, a hereditary office of significant power. He is particularly noted for his leadership at the Battle of Largs in 1263, a pivotal engagement that ultimately led to the cessation of Norse claims over the Western Isles and solidified Scotland's borders.
