Their story
Charles III, Duke of Bourbon, born in Montpensier on February 26, 1490, was a prominent figure within the House of Bourbon. His lineage connected him to significant titles, including monarch of Lower Navarre, a claim to the kingship of France, French co-prince of Andorra, and Count of Foix. A powerful and wealthy nobleman, his career was marked by both military achievements and political strife, particularly his later defection from the French crown. He died in Rome on May 6, 1527, during the tumultuous events of the Sack of the city, bringing an end to a life deeply intertwined with the dynastic rivalries of early modern Europe.
