Marie Sophie in Bavaria, born on October 4, 1841, in Possenhofen, was a distinguished member of the House of Wittelsbach. As Duchess in Bavaria by birth, she held a prominent position within European aristocracy. Her life, spanning a period of significant societal change, saw her marry Francis II, the last King of the Two Sicilies, becoming his Queen Consort. Known for her adventurous spirit and resolute character, she navigated the tumultuous political landscape of her era. Following the unification of Italy and the loss of her throne, she lived for many years in Rome and Paris, maintaining her dignified presence. Marie Sophie passed away on January 19, 1925, in Munich.
