Their story

Francis II, born in Naples in 1836, was a sovereign of the House of Bourbon. He held numerous titles, including Monarch of Lower Navarre, King of France, French Co-Prince of Andorra, and Count of Foix. His reign was marked by significant political upheaval, as the Italian unification movement challenged the traditional order of the Italian peninsula. Despite his efforts to retain control, his kingdom was ultimately absorbed into the new Kingdom of Italy. After losing his throne, Francis lived in exile, passing away in Arco in 1894. He is remembered as the last Bourbon king to rule an independent kingdom in Italy.
