Their story
Richard II, born in Bordeaux in 1367, was a monarch of the House of Plantagenet. He ascended to the throne as a young boy, a period marked by the Peasants' Revolt, which he confronted with a blend of courage and decisive action. Throughout his reign, he grappled with challenges to his authority, both from within the nobility and from abroad. His later years were characterized by increasing political tensions that ultimately led to his deposition. He held the title of Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, reflecting his connection to England's vital coastal defenses. Richard II died at Pontefract Castle in 1400.
