Their story

Rudolph I, born in 1218 at Limburg Castle, rose from a prominent Swabian noble family to become a pivotal figure in the Holy Roman Empire. Though never crowned Emperor by the Pope, he was elected King of the Romans in 1273, a title he held until his death. His reign marked a significant period of consolidation and the re-establishment of royal authority after a time of interregnum. Rudolph is widely recognized for his efforts to restore peace and order throughout the realm and for laying foundational elements for the future prominence of the House of Habsburg. He passed away in Speyer in 1291.
