Their story
Walter Stewart, 6th High Steward of Scotland, was born in 1293. As a prominent figure during a tumultuous period in Scottish history, he played a significant role in the Wars of Scottish Independence. He fought bravely at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, demonstrating his unwavering loyalty to Robert the Bruce. His marriage to Marjorie Bruce, daughter of the King, further solidified his connection to the Scottish throne. This union was pivotal, as their son would later become the first Stewart monarch of Scotland. Walter Stewart's life was dedicated to service and the welfare of Scotland until his death in Bathgate in 1327.
