Their story
Robert II, born at Paisley Abbey on March 10, 1316, was a pivotal figure in Scottish history, marking the ascendancy of the House of Stuart. As the grandson of Robert the Bruce, he ascended to the throne of Scotland in 1371, becoming its monarch after a period of regency. His reign saw sustained efforts to consolidate royal authority and stabilize the kingdom during a complex era of Anglo-Scottish relations. Robert II's legacy is primarily that of a founder, establishing the Stuart dynasty that would govern Scotland for centuries. He passed away at Dundonald Castle on April 27, 1390.
