Their story

Anna Ioannovna, Empress and Autocrat of All the Russias, was born on February 7, 1693, into the esteemed House of Romanov. Following an early marriage to Frederick William, Duke of Courland, she subsequently ascended the Russian throne in 1730. Her reign was characterized by a consolidation of imperial power and a period of increasing German influence within the court. Though her rule faced challenges, particularly from the old aristocracy, Anna navigated these pressures to maintain the integrity of the Russian Empire. She passed away in Saint Petersburg on October 28, 1740, leaving an indelible mark on the nation's history.
