Their story
Elizabeth Petrovna, a daughter of Peter the Great, was born in Kolomenskoye in 1709. Ascending to the throne in 1741, she became Empress of All the Russias, ushering in an era often characterized by cultural flourishing and significant geopolitical influence. Her reign saw the founding of the Imperial Academy of Arts and the establishment of Moscow University, fostering advancements in education and the arts. Under her leadership, Russia engaged in key conflicts, notably the Seven Years' War, asserting its growing power in European affairs. Empress Elizabeth died in Saint Petersburg in 1762, marking the end of her twenty-year rule as a member of the House of Romanov.
