Philippa of England, born at Peterborough Castle in 1394, was a member of the House of Plantagenet. Her marriage to Eric of Pomerania united the English and Scandinavian royal houses, making her Queen of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. A woman of considerable intellect and administrative skill, she served as regent for her husband during his absences, demonstrating capable leadership. Philippa also held the title of Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, a rare appointment for a woman of her era. She died in Vadstena in 1430, leaving a legacy of diplomatic engagement and effective governance.
