Their story
Henry FitzRoy, 1st Duke of Grafton, was born in London on September 28, 1663. As the illegitimate son of King Charles II and Barbara Villiers, Duchess of Cleveland, he was granted the Dukedom of Grafton in 1675. He pursued a military career, serving both at sea and in campaigns on land. Notably, he participated in the siege of Cork in 1690, where he sustained injuries. He died in Cork on October 9, 1690, at the age of twenty-seven. His life, though brief, intertwined with the political and military landscape of late 17th-century England.
