Their story

Edmund of Woodstock, 1st Earl of Kent, was born at Woodstock Palace on August 13, 1301. A son of King Edward I and Marguerite of France, he was a prominent figure within the House of Plantagenet during a period of considerable political upheaval. Elevated to the earldom of Kent, Edmund also held the significant office of Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, a crucial role in the defense and administration of England's strategic coastal towns. His life was abruptly ended on March 27, 1330, in Winchester, a consequence of the complex power struggles that characterized his era.
