Edward I, of the House of Plantagenet, was born at the Palace of Westminster on June 24, 1239. His reign, from 1272 to 1307, shaped medieval England. Known for significant legal and administrative reforms, he also oversaw military campaigns that expanded English influence, notably in Wales. His architectural undertakings included a series of impressive castles. Beyond his regal duties, Edward also held the office of Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. He died on July 7, 1307, in Burgh by Sands, leaving a complex and lasting legacy on the development of English law and governance.
