Their story
Edward II of England, born at Caernarfon Castle on May 2, 1284, was the first English Prince of Wales. A member of the House of Plantagenet, he ascended the throne in 1307. His reign was marked by ongoing conflicts with powerful barons and a notable defeat against the Scots at Bannockburn. He married Isabella, daughter of King Philip IV of France, and they had four children. Edward also held the title of Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. His reign concluded tragically, culminating in his death at Berkeley Castle on September 29, 1327. His legacy remains a subject of considerable historical discussion.
