Their story
Maria Theresa of Spain, born in Madrid on September 10, 1638, entered the world as an Infanta of Spain and Portugal. Her marriage to Louis XIV of France in 1660 solidified dynastic ties between two great European powers. As Queen of France and Navarre, she held significant royal titles, including co-prince of Andorra and countess of Foix. Though her political agency was limited by court expectations, she faithfully fulfilled her role as queen consort, bearing children and participating in ceremonial duties. She passed away in Versailles on July 30, 1683, leaving a legacy as a key figure in 17th-century European royalty.
