Terms of Service
Last updated June 15, 2026 · Effective June 15, 2026
In plain English
- Seedling is free (one tree, 100 people). Dynasty is $4/month or $40/year — flat, cancel anytime.
- Your tree is yours. If you stop paying, it stays fully viewable, editable and exportable. We will never hold your family behind a paywall.
- You own what you upload. You give us only the permission needed to run the service for you.
- Be a good ancestor: only add information you have the right to add, be thoughtful about living relatives, and don't misuse the service.
- This summary is for convenience; the full terms below are what legally apply.
1. Who we are & what you're agreeing to
Dynasty House (the "Service") is operated by Euler's Identity, LLC ("Dynasty House," "we," "us," or "our"), a limited liability company. These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Euler's Identity, LLC governing your access to and use of the Service, including the dynasty.house website, any subdomains (such as yourname.dynasty.house), our APIs, and the embeddable widgets we provide.
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization or another person, you represent that you are authorized to bind them, and "you" includes them.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement, that the information you provide is accurate, and that your use complies with all laws that apply to you. We do not knowingly permit accounts for anyone under 16; see our Privacy Policy.
3. Accounts & security
You may register with an email address and password, or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at hello@dynasty.house if you suspect unauthorized use. You may invite other people to view or collaborate on a tree; you are responsible for whom you invite and what they can see.
4. Plans, pricing & the free tier
The Service is offered in tiers:
- Seedling (free): one tree of up to 100 people, including import and a complete export at any time.
- Dynasty (paid): $4.00 USD per month or $40.00 USD per year, unlocking unlimited people and premium features.
Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any taxes, which you are responsible for where applicable. We may change prices or introduce new tiers; we will give you at least 30 days' notice before any change that increases what you pay, and a price change will not take effect for you until your next renewal after that notice. We may honor founding-member pricing at our discretion, and where we do, we will not raise it for so long as your subscription remains continuously active.
5. Billing, renewal, cancellation & refunds
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance through our payment processor, Stripe, and renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for each renewal at the then-current price.
You may cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you retain paid features until then. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial periods. If a payment fails, we may retry and may downgrade your account to Seedling, subject to Section 6.
6. The no-ransom promise
If you downgrade, cancel, or stop paying, your existing trees remain viewable, editable, and exportable. Only the creation of content beyond the free tier's limits and access to premium features pause. We will not delete your data solely because you stopped paying, and we will never require payment as a condition of letting you read or export your own family information. This promise is a core part of these Terms.
7. Your content & the license you grant us
"Your Content" means everything you submit to the Service — people, dates, places, relationships, notes, biographies, photos, documents, GEDCOM imports, and feedback. You retain all ownership and rights you hold in Your Content. We claim no ownership of it.
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, transmit, adapt (for example, to generate thumbnails or format exports), and display Your Content solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service and to make it available to you and the people you authorize. This license exists only to run the Service for you and ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except for residual copies in routine backups that age out, and except where retention is required by law.
You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit Your Content and to grant this license, and that Your Content does not infringe anyone's rights or violate any law.
8. Other people's information & living relatives
Family trees inevitably contain information about other people, including living relatives who are not Dynasty House users. You are responsible for the information you add about others and for handling it lawfully and respectfully. Only add information you are entitled to add; honor any request from a living person to correct or remove their information; and use the Service's privacy controls thoughtfully. Trees are private by default. You — not Dynasty House — are the party who decides what to record about your relatives and whether to publish it.
9. Publishing: public houses & embeds
You may publish a tree as a public "house" at a subdomain (yourname.dynasty.house) and place embeddable cards or widgets on other websites. When you publish, the Service applies automatic redaction intended to keep living people private, but you remain responsible for reviewing what becomes public and for the consequences of publishing. Do not publish information about living people without an appropriate basis to do so. You may unpublish at any time; cached or third-party copies (for example, in search engines or on sites where you embedded a widget) may persist outside our control.
10. AI-assisted features
The Service offers optional AI-assisted features — for example, drafting a person's life story, answering questions about a tree, generating a family overview, or designing a crest. When you invoke these features, relevant tree information is sent to our AI subprocessors to generate the requested output (see the Privacy Policy). AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable, and is provided for your assistance only — it is not genealogical, historical, legal, or professional advice, and you should verify it before relying on it. As between you and us, outputs generated from Your Content are treated as part of Your Content. You are responsible for how you use AI output.
11. Family matching & notifications
To help relatives find one another, the Service may compare limited identifying signals you provide about yourself (such as your name and birth year) against people recorded in other members' trees. If a strong match is found, we may notify the other tree's owner that someone matching a person in their tree is a member and invite them to connect — without disclosing your contact details or other personal data to them — and we may notify you that you may already appear in other trees. You can opt out of this matching in your account settings. This feature creates the possibility of a connection; it never sells, publishes, or hands over your information.
12. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload unlawful, infringing, or abusive content, or content you lack the right to share;
- scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract other members' data, or attempt to access trees or accounts that are not yours;
- probe, disrupt, overload, or circumvent the security or rate limits of the Service;
- reverse engineer the Service except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;
- use the Service to harass, surveil, or harm any person, or to violate anyone's privacy; or
- misrepresent your identity or your right to information about others.
13. Our intellectual property
The Service itself — our software, design, branding, the "Dynasty House" name and logos, and the look and feel — is owned by Euler's Identity, LLC and its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service as permitted by these Terms. Nothing here transfers any of our rights to you, and the embeddable widgets may be used only as intended to display your own published house.
14. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties — including Cloudflare (hosting and infrastructure), Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Google (optional sign-in), and AI providers reached through OpenRouter. Your use of features that depend on a third party may also be subject to that provider's terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
15. Suspension & termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, if your use creates legal risk or harms others or the Service, or as required by law — using a measure proportionate to the issue and, where practical, with notice. Except in cases of serious abuse, we will preserve your ability to export your data. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 13, 16–20, and 22) survive.
16. Disclaimers
We work hard for boring, dependable reliability, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that defects will be corrected, or that any content, match, or AI output is accurate or complete. Genealogical records are inherently uncertain; you are responsible for verifying facts.
17. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Euler's Identity, LLC and its members, officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or family records, arising out of or relating to the Service, even if advised of the possibility. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you, in which case our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.
18. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Euler's Identity, LLC and its members, officers, and employees from any claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising out of Your Content, your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your handling of other people's information in breach of Section 8.
19. Changes to the Service & to these Terms
We may improve, change, or discontinue features over time. We may update these Terms; if we make a material change, we will give you at least 30 days' notice (for example, by email or an in-app notice) before it takes effect, and we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and, if applicable, cancel — you may export your data first.
20. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and we agree that the state and federal courts located in Florida have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that is not otherwise resolved, and you consent to venue there, except where mandatory law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. We each agree to try in good faith to resolve any dispute informally by contacting the other first.
21. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and supersede prior agreements on that subject. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect and the unenforceable part is limited to the minimum necessary. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control. Nothing here creates a partnership, agency, or employment relationship.
