Their story
James I, born at Dunfermline Palace on August 2, 1394, belonged to the House of Stuart. His life was unusual for a monarch, marked by a long period of captivity in England from a young age. During this time, he received an extensive education, shaping his future policies. Upon his return to Scotland in 1424, he embarked on significant reforms to strengthen royal authority and the legal system. He was known for his efforts to curb the power of the nobility and to improve governance. James I, King of Scotland, was assassinated at Blackfriars, Perth, on March 2, 1437, concluding a reign dedicated to bringing order and stability to his kingdom.
